welcome
i have been driving for over twenty years now. when i first started reading through the tennessee driver’s handbook (now called study guide), i determined in my mind that i was going to learn these rules and get them right. besides needing the answers to pass the test, it was the combination of my extreme orientation to detail and a little fear of driving in the deep end that made me very exact about the rules.
over time, i became more confident but had already built certain habits that i reasoned to be good practice. some of these came from having other drivers shortcut or abuse the rules giving me the shaft. the whole “do unto others” principle does factor in here.
however, now i am in knoxville, and the driving has only gotten worse. not mine; all of them! general observation have revealed people blatantly running red lights, failing to signal in many applicable places, not knowing the basic rules of a four-way stop, or how to properly merge. oh, and with the creation of the mobile phone, we now have a whole new set of problems to address.
my goal with this site is to pull content the from tennessee driver’s study guide, the text everyone must commit to memory and prove in written and driving example to receive their license, and apply it to everyday scenarios pointing out the rights and wrongs, the courteous and the obnoxious. comments are going to be enabled, so you will have you change to voice your opinions. when possible, i will include pictures, video, and other diagrams to make the point.
so, let’s get to it!
